In what has become a regular occurance, the Friends of the East Troy Lions Public Library are putting on a play to help fund library programs.
“It’s a combination of coffee and chocolate, how can you go wrong,” play director Mary Hubbard Nugent said.
The murder mystery/comedy takes place in the Precious Perks Coffee Shoppe where the signature drink, Death by Chocolate, actually has claimed not one victim, but two. Before a third murder takes place a private eye is brought in to investigate. Humor, intrigue, greed, and false deductions take place, but in the end all is solved.
“The star is a Sam Spade/ Humphrey Bogart type character but not all his elevators go to the to,” Nugent said. “Luckily, he has a secretary who helps him get it all together.”
The play will be presented at Ivan’s Back Stage, 2087 Division St., East Troy. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, Oct. 1, 7 and 8, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Oct. 9.
“We love Ivan’s, it’s a great venue with the tables and chairs people can sit at,” Nugent said. “And Ivan’s has created a special drink just for us, the Death by Chocolate martini. It’s going to be so much fun.”
The cast members are: Tim West, East Troy; Laura Larson, Mukwonago; Connie Gehl, Mukwonago; Sheri Watkins, Mukwonago; Adam Lemarr, East Troy; Judy Atkinson, East Troy; Jodi Pogorzelski, Burlington; Sondra Gesselle, Walworth; and Jamie Watkins, Mukwonago).

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the East Troy Lions Public Library or at Ivan’s on the Square. Seating is limited; advance purchases are recommended.
