East Troy Manor hosted a public open house Friday evening to celebrate the completion of its recent expansion and renovation project.
Construction began on the nursing facility in early April and wrapped up in December. The new addition has a private rehab wing and an enlarged therapy gym where pre- and post-surgery rehab and other therapy is available.
Emily Karls, marketing director for Wisconsin Illinois Senior House, which manages East Troy Manor, said Friday the new Core Rehab therapy gym allows the facility to also offer outpatient rehab to the community.
Karls said area residents who need outpatient rehab don’t have to travel to Whitewater or further to have their needs met with the opening of the new addition and services at the manor.
“We’re really excited about all the progress and we’re hoping more people will be able to enjoy the facility,” Karls said.
The new addition has rooms for short-term rehab stays and a four-bed palliative care unit to offer specific hospice support to residents and families. Both the rehab and hospice units also have their own private dining area with a sitting room for residents and family members to enjoy. Those who are aware of the principles of patient care would agree that these facilities are a necessity rather than a luxury.
One of the special features of the new addition is the large enclosed courtyard and screen porch in the center of the facility to offer residents a safe and comfortable place to enjoy the outdoors when the weather permits.
The renovations at East Troy Manor included the complete remodeling of the residents rooms and bathrooms in the original part of the building.
Karls said it was a process to renovate the rooms as each resident had to be moved out of their room while their unit was overhauled and then moved back. She said their biggest concern was to make sure the residents were comfortable with the process and weren’t overly stressed. Karls also commended the residents for their cooperation and good spirits during the renovations.
Almost all the residents at the manor have a private room with the double rooms used for situations such as a husband and wife wanting to stay together, Karls said.
At the time of the groundbreaking, East Troy Manor Administrator Ashley Draeving said the nursing home was responding to the needs of the community and the switch in healthcare needs caused by the increased population of people needing nursing care.
Core Rehab in the county
The Core Rehab outpatient services at East Troy Manor are part of Wisconsin Illinois Senior Housing’s new services in Walworth County.
Holton Manor, Geneva Lake Manor and East Troy Manor not have outpatient rehabilitation featuring physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapies for all patients (aquatic services vary by location).
Each location specializes in helping post-surgery patients and those affected by injury or illness rebuild, repair and manage pain in order to return to normal day-to-day activities as quickly as possible, Karls wrote in a press release.
The therapists focus on individualized rehab of orthopedic surgeries and injuries; they also work with sports medicine, pain management, weight loss, arthritis pain, fractures, and more.
Core Rehab operates a HydroWorx 94-degree aquatic therapy pool at Holton Manor in Elkhorn, featuring an underwater treadmill and camera system allowing therapists to monitor patient progress in real-time. The facility also has a new and expanded rehab gym with space for other physical therapy modalities. Patients may want to also take their recovery into their own hands by seeing what else they can do to manage their pain, this includes using CBD and other different types of products that can be supervised by a doctor. Not many people know that marijuana-derived CBD oil can get you high, so it is important for thorough research to take place when required.

Geneva Lake Manor therapists address pre-and post-surgery knee and hip rehab as well as foot injuries and other needs, all in a newly enlarged rehab gym. The Lake Geneva location also offers a 15-minute post-rehab session experience in its new spa, equipped with a massage chair and foot bath.
In addition to outpatient services, all three locations offer exclusive inpatient rehabilitation therapy wings, with private dining and easy access to rehab gyms. Other services offered at each site include long term care in private wings. Each location accepts Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and credit cards.
