The fire that broke out in an East Troy home late Monday night has left a local family homeless.
Scott and Angel Loose and their two children lost their Valley Ridge Drive home in the blaze, which broke out about 10:30 p.m. on June 29.
The couple told Mukwonago Times photographer Bradford Paulson that the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature, but the investigation wasn’t complete and they didn’t have a final ruling on what happened.
They also told Paulson that they were extremely grateful for the fast response from the fire and police departments that helped out.
A GoFundMe account has been set up HERE to help raise money for the family.
The GoFundMe page states, “After hearing several noises, it became quickly apparent that their house in Mukwonago was filling with smoke. Realizing that time was of the essence, they quickly got their daughter and son up and got out of the house safely. Within 10 minutes the fire department arrived, but one side of their house was already completely engulfed in flames. The house itself is a complete loss including everything in it.”
It goes on to say that the home has special meaning for Scott, because it was originally built by his father, who passed away from cancer a few years ago.
The donation page says that while the couple’s insurance will cover many of the costs of rebuilding, it will not cover all the expenses, especially the immediate ones. They were asking for $5,000 and as of press time Wednesday morning, more than $3,500 had already been donated to the family.
No car crash
There were also reports of a car crash around the same time as the fire Monday night near the intersection of highways J and ES by the Elegant Farmer in Mukwonago, which is close to the Loose’s home.
Officials from the Town of East Troy and the Village of Mukwonago police departments and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department said they didn’t respond to a crash in the area and at this time, it appears that the reports of a crash were most likely emergency vehicles and backed up traffic because of the fire.
