Outgoing Village of East Troy Trustee Chris Gultch took time at Monday night’s board meeting to say his goodbyes and commend fellow board members for dedication and hard work.

Gultch said he enjoyed his time on the board and wished new member Scott Seager all the best.

“I just want to thank everybody on the board,” Gultch said. “I know I stumbled a few times and was sometimes a pain in the butt, but I wish all of you well along with our new member.”

Gultch also “strongly” urged the board to consider a binding referendum for the operation costs of a new library, should that be the end result of the recent move to possible expand the library or build a new one. He told the board that the operating costs of a library like the ones in Mukwonago and Elkhorn, which the user groups have been telling the library Steering Committee they are using instead of the East Troy library because of inadequate space, would be about $1 million a year.

He said he thought the residents should be the ones to decide if the project moves forward and should know the cost.

Committee appointments

Village Board President Randy Timms brought the new committee appointments to the board for approval Monday night.

Ed Arendt, John Grudnowski and new Trustee Scott Seager will be on the Plan Commission. Seager will now serve as the Village Board’s representative on the commission. There is a vacant seat on the commission. Anyone interested should contact the Village Hall at (262) 642-6255.

Ann Zess is leaving the library board and will be the village’s representative on the Airport Advisory Board. Mike Starck will also serve on the Advisory Board.

Lois Clark and Forty Renucci will serve on the Board of Review. There are two open seats on the board, interested citizens should call Village Hall for more information.

Renucci will also serve as the village’s representative on the Booth Lake Memorial Park Board with Grudnnowski. Village Trustee Dusty Stanford said he would have liked to have stayed on the board as the village’s representative and wondered aloud if he was being removed because of the incident earlier this year when he was the board’s president and the board voted to give special consideration to Park Board members if they wanted to reserve a specific day to use the pavilion before the annual lottery.

Trustee Fred Douglass will remain on the East Troy Area Emergency Services committee as the village representative.

Trustee Linda Kaplan is joining the Library Board as the village’s representative.

Deborah Arendt, Gary Budzein and Jim Holm will serve on the Park & Recreation committee with Stanford as the village’s representative.

Department of Public Works Director Mike Miller will remain as Weed Commissioner and Jim Haraldsen was appointed to the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Stanford and Gultch voted against the appointments. Questioning why so many changes were happening this year.
