Middle School band students to perform in Honors Bands
Fourteen students from the East Troy Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade bands were selected to participate in the 49th annual University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Honors Band Festival on Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Zelazo Performing Arts Center.
Sara Balge-flute, Elizabeth Malicki-flute, Kinsten Rought-oboe, Morgan Bartlett-clarinet, Sophia Calcaterra-clarinet, Kaylee McFarland-clarinet, Jenna Weiland-clarinet, Hailey Donohoue-alto sax, Carly Goetsch-alto sax, Sophie Donegan-trumpet, Andrew Gross-trumpet, Carlin Russell-trumpet, Matthew Kisting-trombone and Wyatt Miller-trombone were nominated by their band director, John Rash, and selected based on instrumentation needs from over 750 nominated students.
The students will be assigned into one of four honor bands and will rehearse with guest conductors from across the country on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to prepare for their final concert at the Zelazo Performing Arts Center on the campus of UW-M on Sunday. The first concert starts at 1 p.m. with the other three honors bands starting each hour after that at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
