A 66-year-old East Troy man died Sunday of an apparent heart attack while boating with friends on Lake Michigan.
According to a press release from he Racine County Sheriff’s Office, the county Communications Center received a call at about 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 10. The caller said he and two other friends along with the East Troy man were in a 19-foot-boat about six miles off shore.
The Racine County Water Patrol met up with the boat about three miles from shore. According to the release, one of the boat’s occupants was performing CPR on the man.
The boat was escorted to the Fifth Street Boat Launch where Racine Fire/Rescue was standing by. The man was transported to Wheaton Franciscan – Racine where he was later pronounced dead.
There were no signs of foul play and the deceased had a diabetic medical history, the release stated.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members.
