The Madison Scouts drum and bugle corps, one of Drum Corps International’s world class performing units, is returning to East Troy from June 15 through June 20 for the conclusion of their annual spring training.
Each year the Scouts develop a 10-minute field production that they will perform throughout North America on a circuit that will have them competing in 33 shows starting June 20 in Rockford, Ill., and concluding on Aug. 9 at the DCI World Championships at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Scouts will be rehearsing at East Troy High School and welcome the surrounding communities, area band students and directors to come watch the rehearsals and preparation required in putting this performing unit on the field for the summer.
“The Scouts are excited to be returning to East Troy,” said Corps Director Dann Petersen. “The community has always had a warm welcome for the corps and really provides a great turnout for our final dress rehearsal before leaving on tour.”
The Scouts will perform a full dress rehearsal on at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, at at East Troy High School. The corps will perform its field show, take a break and come back to play several encore pieces. In anticipation of a large crowd, additional seating will be provided.
Everyone is encouraged to attend.
The corps will also perform in the area on the following dates:
• June 28 at Middleton High School in Drums on Parade;
• July 5, at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Whitewater Classic. This is a great opportunity to see some of best corps in the United States.

This group is an unbelievable noise menace, day after day after day, hour after hour after hour virtually nonstop from 8 am to 10 pm, The only thing that stops them is rain with thunder and lightning. The constant decibel level is unbelievable. These kids have to have hearing damage, and anyone else who lives within 3/4 of a mile of where they are practicing can’t sit outside on their porch or leave their windows open without hearing the same monotonous loud repetitive drum pounding and blasting brass. Why do you think they practice in East Troy? Probably because Madison area city government won’t let them practice in their own home town because they are a public noise nuisance. I don’t care what if any money the local school district is getting to let them practice on the football field, it isn’t worth it to anyone who lives nearby. Unbelievable that the school district could be so insensitive and also let them blast away relentlessly right next to a large senior apt. complex and nursing home besides. PRAY they never come to your community unless they are briefly marching in a parade.
