The East Troy Village Board briefly discussed details regarding the East Troy Cycling Classic last Monday night.

The event will pass through the village on Friday, June 21 as part of the Tour of America’s Dairyland’s 11-day professional cycling series.

After trustee Fortune Renucci brought up concerns from two business owners regarding the new race route last month, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Katie Matteson gave the board an update.

She said the event’s committee members visited all businesses around the square last Thursday.

Board Trustee Ann Zess said she serves on the bike race committee and was out with Matteson, where they received a very positive response to the event. She said concerns were able to be addressed face-to-face, making it a “good experience.”

Renucci raised concerns about the timing of talking to businesses, but also said he did not feel any reason to hold up this year’s event.

He said he would like the chamber to give more notice next year for a smoother transition.

“People just want to be included and know what’s going on,” he said.

Matteson told the board there will be an informational meeting for the Cycling Classic from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at the Red Door Café. Representatives from the bike race will be there to answer questions.

  1. I believe it should be held somewhere else..Cause they have no respect..They park in peoples yards and drive ways..And then we cant get out of our drive way .. And they change right out in the open..I was not happy last year that i had to sit out in my parents yard.Just so people wouldn’t park in there yard or drive way..And it brings no revenue to the town..
