Baskets of love

Members of the East Troy High School National Art Honor Society spent two afternoons last week weaving baskets at East Troy Basketry for its annual Baskets of Love project. This is the 12th year that owners Jim and Eileen Mirsberger have organized Baskets of Love, which are made by volunteers and local basket guilds and filled with goodies and distributed to Meals on Wheels recipients in Walworth County. The business donates all of the weaving supplies with some help from community members. Last year, more than 350 baskets were delivered. Participants included (front, from left) Morgan Woyak, Taylor Strunsee, Alison Weber, Dani Stemper, Genevieve Baldwin, (back) Emma Harris, Monica Zoellner, Hannah Purnell, Julia Bower, Shauna Jacobs, Hailey Busch, Gabriella Pott, Alisha Reyes and (not pictured) Talles Rezende, Francesca Furlan, Molly Olive and Hannah Williams. Talles Rezende shows off a finished basket that features a holiday message signed on the bottom. Baskets will be filled on Dec. 12 and delivered shortly after.
