The East Troy Community School District will host a referendum presentation at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 in the East Troy High School library, 3128 Graydon Ave.
District Administrator Dr. Christopher Hibner said the meeting will give any interested residents a chance to find out information and ask questions about the upcoming district-wide referendum.
The referendum question on the Nov. 6 ballot will ask voters to approve a $17.2 million plan for district improvements the East Troy School Board says are needed in the immediate future.
“If passed, the referendum would address critical safety and security issues at all of the district’s schools and allow for the renovation of some high school classrooms to enhance and support learning,” the board said. “In addition, this would enable the school to adopt advanced modern teaching methods in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and improve career and technical education. The referendum would also allow the district to renovate the high school kitchen to address storage, prep work and service area space issues, as well as upgrade some athletics facilities and create the first auditorium for the community.”
The proposed upgrades are products of the district’s $41 million long-range facilities master plan created by its ad-hoc Facilities Advisory Committee.
