The Rock Valley Conference Traveling Art Show will soon be on exhibit at East Troy High School.
Chosen artwork from each high school in the Rock Valley Conference will be on display from Oct. 25-Nov. 13, including work from ETHS students Cieara Kendall and Allen Ammon. Kendall is a part-time student at East Troy High School while earning freshman credits at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
“I have been introduced to the many fields of the art world through my studies and work hard to become a well-rounded artist,” she said.
Kendall said she enjoys working in the mixed media arts and has learned to become best friends with her sketchpad.
“Every piece I create is not done until I fall in love with it,” she said. “My life goal is to share my work with the world and explore the many different fields of art.”
Ammon’s featured work is a copper bracelet created during one of his favorite projects of the year.
He said he liked taking the steps to make it.
“First, we had to design the bracelet. Then we had to glue the design on to the piece of copper. After gluing, we had to use a jeweler’s saw to cut the copper to the right design we had made,” he said.
“Once the cutting is all done we had took a file and smoothed out the edges so they were all even with the corners and points. Then we brought it over to the polisher to make it have a better more shinny look to it. Finally we had taken a torch to the copper to make it have a more interesting look to it.”
“This project took a lot of creativity to make because of the thinking process it took to design and create this,” he added.
Ammon said he wants to be in the game designing business in the future.
Members of the community are invited to view the display, located by the main office of the high school, 3128 Graydon Ave.
Each school in the conference will host the exhibit for about two weeks.
