Keeping them safe

During Fire Prevention Week Oct. 3 through 9, members of the City of Delavan Fire Department spend time with students at Turtle Creek Elementary School. Fire chief Tim O’Neill said they connected with more than 550 pre-K and Kindergarten students in all, including additional stops at St. Andrew’s, Delavan Christian and Wileman Elementary schools. O’Neill said they talked about a variety of safety topics including fire drills, stop, drop and roll and stranger danger and gave demonstrations on the type of gear a firefighter wears in an effort to stay safe.
