Special Methods in Learning Equine Skills, Inc. will host Miles for SMILES 5K Fun Run/Walk and Breakfast at the Barn on Oct. 23 at the SMILES facility in Darien.
Breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. and be served until noon; tickets will be available at the door.
The 5K will start at 9 a.m. and feature a Unity Lap, which everyone will walk.
The event, which is open to the public, is family-friendly and will include a slew of activities including:
- Horse bingo – buy a square for $20 with a chance to win half the pot;
- Trick-or-treat trail;
- Horse/human costume contest – the crowd will judge by cheering.
- Team challenge – a team of three to five can compete in an obstacle course team challenge with a prize awarded for best time;
- Pumpkin decorating contest;
- Open barn – take a tour of the SMILES stable.
The event will be held at SMILES, N2666 County Road K in Darien.
