Sarah Hoekstra, daughter of Margaret and Robert Hoekstra, and Payton McCann, son of Kristyn Krohn and Josh McCann were recently honored as the Delavan Rotary Club students for the month of March 2021.
Hoekstra participates in FFA and softball and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Her volunteer activities include mission trips to Troy, Missouri and Middleton, Ohio, with her church, childcare during church events, and volunteering with elderly church members. She also volunteers at a local homeless shelter.
Hoekstra plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a career in the agricultural field.
McCann participates in football, basketball, baseball, Future Business Leaders of America and Comet Mentors. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.
His volunteer activities include the City of Delavan fire department pancake breakfast, the Catholic Heart Work Camp, St. Nick’s breakfast at St. Andrews church, the Delavan Food Pantry and he has volunteered in the past with the Delavan Area Youth Service Foundation.
McCann plans to attend UW-Whitewater and major in business.
As recipients of this award, an administrator at Delavan-Darien High School escorted Hoekstra and McCann to the Rotary Club luncheon on March 10.
