Functional Fitness offered through September

Functional Fitness is extending its run at Delavan Community Park, offering classes on Saturday mornings through September. The class on Saturday, Aug. 15 will be free for new participants to try the workouts.

The new session begins on Aug. 22. Community Park is at the intersection of Highway 50 and South Shore Drive in Delavan.

Classes are being held 8 to 9 a.m. on the south side of the park near the volleyball courts to ensure privacy for the participants and enable social distancing. Attendees are asked to bring their own mats or towels and small hand weights.

The 6-week class is offered for $35, or at a drop-in rate of $8 per class for those not able to commit to the entire six weeks. Bringing a friend merits a $5 discount on the 6-week session.

The class is being taught by Town of Delavan resident Amanda Cummins who is also the owner of Functional Fitness. She said she is passionate about fitness for all ages and trains regularly at her downtown Elkhorn fitness studio.

“The location is perfect for COVID-friendly workouts. In these crazy times, it’s important that we carve out time to take care of ourselves and the effects of exercise on mental wellness are well documented,” said Cummins.

Participant Jenny Hundt said she’d been looking for a summer workout program.

“Amanda gives us a full body workout and the view of the lake is gorgeous! I’m excited I found this boot camp and I’ll be back in the fall,” Hundt said.
