Area blood drive slated for June 15

Appointments, masks among the required changes

The Delavan Darien Red Cross will hold a blood drive Monday, June 15 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Those wanting to donate need a donor card, driver’s license or other government-issued ID and to feel well the day of the donation. Potential donors must know the name of the medications they are currently taking or have taken in the last month. They must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with parental consent in some states) to donate blood. There is no upper age limit but donors must weight at least 110 lbs.

At this time, face coverings or masks are required to donate. For those who do not have one, the Red Cross will provide one.

In response to COVID-19, in accordance with the CDC guidelines, the Red Cross will be changing its normal protocols to include the following:

  • All donors and all staff will wear face masks;
  • Enhanced disinfecting of surfaces and equipment;
  • Providing hand sanitizer throughout the donation process;
  • Temperature checks prior to entering the center;
  • Following social distancing guidelines between donors in all areas.

Appointments are currently required to donate blood. To make an appointment, visit RedCross-Blood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.

In lieu of a lunch, donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Culvers’ “famous” frozen custard.
