Alan Johnson, 32, of Lima Center, was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison and 10 years extended supervision for the Oct. 25, 2016, shooting death of his brother-in-law Ken Myskewicz in Whitewater.
Myskewicz’s wife and son, Kimberly and Tyler Myskewicz, Johnson’s sister and nephew, made statements at Johnson’s sentencing hearing Friday along with Tyler Myskewicz’s fiance, Hannah Hitchcock, and asked for the maximum sentence for Johnson. Johnson was convicted Nov. 7 of first-degree reckless homicide in Myskewicz’s death but found not guilty of burglary. He faced up to 65 years in prison.
Johnson’s attorney, Stephen Hurley, of Madison, recommended five years in prison and five years extended supervision while the prosecutor asked for 35 years and the state Department of Corrections recommended 20.
