A 4 ½-year-old girl found not breathing at the bottom of the pool at Lake Lawn Resort last week was revived and is doing well, according to Delavan police.

Lake Lawn staff notified authorities when the child’s parents found her not breathing at the bottom of the pool at about 9:15 a.m., said Police Chief Tim O’Neill.

The girl’s parents got her out of the pool and began CPR, he said. Emergency medical crews were sent out, but a doctor in the city’s medical unit happened to be on Highway 50 and arrived before the ambulance, O’Neill said.

He said the ambulance arrived quickly, and the child had already been revived by the time they got there.

“It was a great response,” he said. “The child was fine. The parents did a terrific job. The Lake Lawn staff did a terrific job. It could have been a real tragic situation.”

O’Neill said the child was under the water for less than two minutes and both parents were present when the child was swimming.
