One year ago this summer, 7-year-old Josie Picard – whose singing voice froze an audience at the Milwaukee Mile and wowed the crowd at the Sky Circus on Ice in Delavan – told the Delavan Enterprise editor the place she’d most like to sing is at a Green Bay Packers game.
Picard, now 8, got her wish Aug. 8. She got to sing the National Anthem at Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packers Family Night.
“From telling you she would like to sing for the Packers last year to actually getting to do it this year has been a dream come true,” Picard’s mom, Karen Picard, told the Enterprise editor. “An amazing opportunity. One she will never forget.”
After belting out “The Star-Spangled Banner” wearing her pink Packers jersey, Picard rubbed shoulders with coach Mike McCarthy and Packers players including the NFL’s top quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Picard’s parents Karen and Matt Picard, a supervisor at the Delavan Medix station, began booking Picard to sing the national anthem at local events when they discovered her natural talent when she was about 6 years old. After singing at events like the Spartan Spectacular basketball tournament and the Brick Street Market Cheese and Wine Festival and at Bradley’s Department Store, Picard became the youngest performer to sing at the Milwaukee Mile for the Automobile Racing Club of America Festival in June 2014.
The family has since moved from Delavan to Brodhead but frequently visits Delavan where Matt Picard continues to work at Medix.
