Tom Ramsden, Area 3 Employer Outreach Coordinator for Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) recently announced that Justin Perez, store leader for Kwik Trip in East Troy, has been presented with a Patriot Award.
The award was given in recognition of extraordinary support of one of Perez’s employees who serves in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. The presentation took place at the Kwik Trip store at 1880 County Rd. ES in East Troy, on Nov. 26.
“Perez was nominated for this prestigious national award by Sergeant Ashley Andrist, who works in guest services at Kwik Trip and serves as a Motor Vehicle Operator and Team Leader in the 1158th Transportation Unit with the Wisconsin Army National Guard,” Ramsden said.
He explained that the Patriot Award is presented to employers who not only hire National Guard and Reserve members but demonstrate superior support to the military employee and their family.
“The Reserve Forces are the cornerstone of our national defense. Kwik Trip has provided outstanding support and cooperation and has exhibited a patriotic spirit which is reflected in the significance of being a recipient of the Patriot Award,” Ramsden said.
“Perez has shown extraordinary support for Ashley’s military career and has taken steps to ensure her sustainment with the force in times of service to the community and the country,” he added.
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
The program facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within the Department of Defense.
