For the 19th year, on the 19th of October, a little bit of Germany will come to Elkhorn.

The Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce will play host to Oktoberfest Saturday from 9a.m. to 5 p.m. at the downtown Veterans Park.

Sponsored by Edge Broadband, Mercyhealth, Lyle’s TV and Appliance, Kunes, Camo and Sky, TDS, Associated Bank and Southern Lakes Newspapers, the event features live music, German cuisine, beer and wine tasting – and more.

“Elkhorn Oktoberfest continues to be the largest downtown festival hosted by the Elkhorn Chamber,” said Kate Abbe, director of partner engagement and marketing with the chamber. “With over 5,000 people filling the streets, we love putting our city, our businesses and our local artisans on display for all the Oktoberfest guests to see.

“An event of this size doesn’t happen without the efforts of hundreds of dedicated business owners, volunteers and chamber partners working together,” she added. “It’s not only fun, it’s awe-inspiring to see the event come together each year.”

Abbe said people from all over the state attend the event, and part of the fun is greeting those guests who return every year.

All-day happenings include craft vendors, food vendors and four blocks of a classic car show.

Scheduled events include:

  • 9:30 a.m. – 5K walk/run
  • 11 a.m. – All Around Beer and Wine Tasting
  • 11 a.m. – D’Lite Duo on the Main Stage
  • 11 a.m. – Leisure Village Witch Dancers at North Bar
  • 11 a.m. – Cornhole tournament, across from Friends on the Square
  • 1 p.m. – Gebel Girls at North Bar
  • 1 p.m. – Stein hoisting competition in front of North Bar
  • 2 p.m. – Doghouse Roses on the Main Stage

Other activities this year include axe throwing on the south side of the park, courtesy of LG Axe Throwing.

A free shuttle will be available to take people from the Walworth County Fairgrounds to the downtown area to allow for more parking.
