Updated, 2:30 p.m. – At a news conference this morning, law enforcement called the situation a “senseless act of violence.” Elkhorn Police Chief Joel Christensen called the situation horrific, and said it is too early in the investigation for a suspect to be identified or to determine motive from the incident. He said there is no reason to believe either of the victims was the shooter.
Christensen said that, because there is no suspect or motive at this time, people should take “reasonable” precautions to ensure their safety.
