The Delavan-Darien School Board held its regular meeting on March 13. The status of District Administrator Jill Sorbie was not on the agenda in open or closed session, but President Dave Henriott did issue a statement after the meeting.
Sorbie was placed on paid non-disciplinary leave following the board’s regular meeting on Feb. 13. The district has not provided an explanation for the leave and Henriott’s statement continued to hold that line with one new addition.
“Currently at this time, Dr. Sorbie is on non-disciplinary paid leave of absence pending an investigation,” Henriott said. “We will not further comment on the investigation as that is a personnel matter.”
Previous statements from Henriott or Interim Administrator Anthony Klein made no mention of an investigation.
As previously reported by the Enterprise, Police Chief Jim Hansen emailed Sorbie several times, including just prior to her being placed on leave, regarding concerns he had with the relationship between the district and his department and the lack or reporting of several incidents to the School Resource Officer at Phoenix Middle School. There was no confirmation that the investigation mentioned by Henriott was regarding Hansen’s concerns.
