Walworth County Sheriff announced Thursday morning, Feb. 24, that he plans to retire by the end of 2022.
“My immediate thanks goes to the dedicated employees and their families for the 24 hours a day shared sacrifice to the mission driven focus for public safety in Walworth County,” said Picknell in a release sent to area media.
Picknell did not give a reason for his retirement in the release; however, his work gained the praise of county administrator Mark Luberda as well as Walworth County Board of Supervisor Chair Nancy Russell.
“Sheriff Picknell has been a pleasure to work with during my time with the county,” Luberda said. “His spirit of cooperation and dedication to constantly improving the Sheriff’s Office has been a benefit to everyone who lives, works, or visits the county.”
