The Walworth County Board of Supervisors essentially postponed discussion on the COVID-19 pandemic at the Feb. 8 meeting of the full board, citing updates coming at the committee level.
The COVID-19 response, update and state and federal actions was listed on the agenda as unfinished business, but Walworth County Administrator Mark Luberda said that updates would be coming in the next few weeks at the committee meeting level.
“I don’t have anything directly to add,” he said
The board also handled a number of different zoning amendments at the meeting.
Those approvals, all approved unanimously at the Zoning Agency Committee, were as follows:
• Amending Chapter 74 of the Walworth County shoreland/floodplain zoning at the direction of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The change allows the county reword its language regarding areas of special flood hazard as identified by the DNR, clarifying the language in the old ordinance.
• Rezoning for the Wilson Aggregate Trust of 91.48 acres from prime agricultural land to mineral extraction district on four different parcels.
• Rezoning .5 acres for Cobblestone Cemetery Association from prime agricultural land to institutional park district.
• Rezoning about .16 acres for AC Meisner Investments LLC from institutional park district that was once a town garage to industrial district land.
• Rezoning of about six acres of highway business district to residential district for one- and two-family dwellings for Paul C. Mueller and Dennis Tully in Lyons Township.
• Rezoning the wetland zone district boundaries around Lake Petite to match delineated field conditions.
• Sorg Holdings, LLC rezoning of .1 of an acre from agricultural-related manufacturing, warehousing and marketing district to agricultural land district.
• The switch of about 7,260 square feet from general business district to single-family homes for the Colton Meisinger and Daniel Meisinger trust.
• Rezoning about 9,000 square feet of land from general business district to single-family homes for Walworth Homes LLC in the Delavan Township.
The vote for all the rezonings was 10-0, with one supervisor absent.
Contracts approved
The County Board also approved a five-year contract for William Duncan to the Walworth County Metropolitan Sewerage District starting Feb. 28.
Duncan is a member of the WalCoMet. His appointment had been previously approved 5-0 by the executive committee.
Finally, the board approved extending the employment contract of Luberda through Dec. 31, 2025.
Luberda was hired in December of 2019. He was previously the director of administration for Franklin.
