Before her teammates, her coach and members of the School District, Palmyra-Eagle’s Lauren Stefanczyk signed a letter of intent in a ceremony recently to play softball at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
“I just feel like it’s good to be a representative of our school and our program. I didn’t really want all the attention necessarily but I like how my teammates came for me and people in this community are happy for me getting this opportunity to play in college. Not everyone gets this opportunity,” Stefanczyk said.
Stefanczyk set the goal early on to play at the college level, she said, and it is now coming to fruition.
“It feels really good. It just summarizes the amount of work I put in to play and how much I put into the game. I am just really excited to continue playing the game for four more years,” Stefanczyk said.
The district showed its pride with the ceremony, which was on Nov. 28 in the Community Center at the High School. Stefanczyk’s teammates joined her for support and photographs afterward. Stefanczyk had family members in attendance as well.
“This is a big deal for the individual here who accomplished this,” Hetz said. “This is a big deal for the district. This is a big deal for the players.”
