For members of boards, committees

A code of conduct manual for members of Whitewater’s various boards and committees will be created as an outgrowth of a recent series of discussions of what constitutes good governance in the city.
Council member Chris Grady in recent months has proposed documentation be added to the city’s policies and procedures on how the appointed members of the boards and committees should conduct business.
Grady, who serves as the council representative on the city’s Landmarks Commission, has expressed concern with the latitude some of the municipality’s appointed bodies have.
As a next step in the exploratory process, City Manager Cameron Clapper came before the Common Council on Nov. 21 and discussed what he has been doing to try and seek meaningful solutions.
In November, Clapper said he reached out to counterparts in several municipalities, including nearby Janesville, in an effort to gauge how the communities address the issue.
