Highway 12/67 near Evergreen Parkway, north of the city limits of Elkhorn, is closed to all traffic for at least the next eight hours.
The road is closed to both westbound traffic heading towards Whitewater/Madison and eastbound traffic heading towards Elkhorn/Lake Geneva/Illinois.
According to a press release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, the closure is due to a single vehicle crash (car vs. pole) where the pole has been sheared off and wires are across the highway.
WE Energies has been contacted and they are en route to the scene. No injuries are reported with this crash. Residences and businesses nearest the crash may lose electric power during this time.
The Sheriff’s Office is advising drivers to use Interstate 43 to Exit Highway 20 and take Highway 20 west back to the intersection of highways 12/20/67 until further notice. From the south, drivers should take Highway 20 east from the highways 12/20/67 split to Interstate 43 from the north.
