Waves of laughter will rock the audience in Elkhorn Area High School’s dramatic production of William Davidson’s Act Your Age, a comedy in three parts. Two teens, Angela Goetz (Ashley Van Lanen) and Geraldine Joyce (Brittany Bates), can barely keep their heads above water when they masquerade as “women of the world” in order to engage the hearts of young sailors, Jim Matson (Alan Liner) and Gadget Hoffenflugel (Peyton Harmel). The adolescents assume that their communications are simply an amusing diversion, since the men are safely employed overseas. They are in for a yacht-sized surprise, however, when the gentlemen dock for the weekend– and expect to stay with their “fiancees!” Meanwhile, Sandra Stone (Jennifer Mitchell) has arrived to instruct the girls in Latin, and she decides to teach them all a lesson of her own. Other noteworthy characters include Cora (Megan Jacobson) and Helga (Kaitlyn Guzman), a pair of lady wrestlers, Naval Commander “Picklepuss” (Justin Taylor), Western Union Girl (Makayla Griffin), Mrs. Joyce (Lydia Chechowitz) and Franco, the lonely parrot (voice of Hunter O’Laughlin).
This performance would not be possible without the assistance of the crew (led by Jessica Nehs), the student director (Rachel White), and the lighting / sound coordinator (Aaron Gottschalk); a special thanks also goes out to Jeff and Tom Kleist for their time and talent.
Performance dates include Nov. 8 and 9 at 7 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $5 and at the door of the James A. Wehner Auditorium for $6.
