Houses in Delavan, Williams Bay, Geneva National to be showcased
The Holiday Tour of Homes is expanding from one day to two this year.
The event, which previously took place on Saturday, will include a Friday evening tour this year. It is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9.
Organizers hope the late afternoon and evening tour will encourage couples to visit the homes with their festive holiday ambiance lighting. Cheese and crackers and punch will be served at the log home of Mike and Vickie Tapavica, 98 Dartmouth, Williams Bay, and the Main Street Manor, 112 S. Main St., Delavan.
Delavan Comfort Suites, 313 Bauer Parkway, will welcome guests with lighted Christmas trees, Christmas cookies, cider and coffee.
Each of the five homes on the tour will showcase themed holiday decorations.
Halloween is the setting for the Patrick and Courtney Peyer family home at 483 Chasefield Court, Williams Bay. The two-story Colonial home has a view of Yerkes Observatory, a backyard pergola, a built-in firepit, an inground pool and a kids’ “secret passageway.”
The Stan and Carolyn Logeterman custom built home at 1257 Wilmington Way in Geneva National overlooking the Trevino Golf Course will be embellished with Christmas and winter collections. The home features a screened porch with flat screen TV referred to as the Wisconsin Room. An open staircase ushers guests to the lower level complete with billiard area, wet bar and theatre room.
The Main Street Manor Bed and Breakfast will greet guests with a Thanksgiving and autumn Theme. A drawing of this house was found on a plat of survey map from 1857. Many of the details found in the picture were restored during an extensive renovation that took two years to complete. The house features four guest rooms each with a private bath. The house features original yellow pine flooring and the original banister leading to the second floor rooms.
The Tapavica log home boasts a great room with a 30-foot vaulted ceiling and three-story fireplace. During the Christmas season, the home features at least five decorated trees in different themes including a 15-foot-tall tree. Mike Tapavica handcrafted the home’s log furnishings. A focal piece is a glass foyer salvaged from the Lake Geneva Post Office that dates from 1926.
The residence of Doug and Debbie Cox, 311 E. Wisconsin St., will have an autumn theme. The 100-year-old home features original woodwork, a front and back staircase and a two-story carriage-like garage. The home extends to the outdoors with furnished patio and flower beds. The lawn features hand-crafted birds made by Debbie Cox’s father. The home has gone through many renovations and updates over the years and now offers contemporary decorating with historic charm.
The Holiday Tour of Homes is sponsored by the Delavan-Darien Soccer Club. Proceeds are used to fund scholarships to graduating seniors who have played varsity soccer and are continuing with secondary education.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 the day of the tour. Tickets can be purchased at Community Bank Delavan, Bradley’s Department Store and Walworth State Bank in Delavan.
