Sharon native Emilie Cerny was crowned Walworth County Fair’s 2014 Fairest of the Fair.

Cerny, 22, graduated from Big Foot High School in 2010 and then from Black Hawk East College in the spring of 2013 with honors.

A participant in Big Foot FFA, Cerny served as vice president, president and committee chair during her time with the organization. She has received multiple awards such as her presidential seat and an American FFA Degree.

While at Black Hawk East College, she was also a member of the school’s Livestock Judging Team.

Cerny is currently working for Reproductive Provisions where she presents at shows and expositions, communicates with customers, and even does product training.

In her free time, Cerny has spent many hours volunteering at the State and County Fair Discovery Barns, Walworth County Fair Dairy Breakfast, and the Partners in Active Leadership Support program.

As for the future, Cerny’s main goals consist of gaining more knowledge within the agricultural industry and returning to school to study microbiology and agricultural communications.

Cerny enjoys spending time with family and friends, and together they attend livestock shows and enjoy the outdoors. Reading and researching the most recent swine shows is also something that keeps her busy.

Cerny, who is expected to be available for the entirety of the 2014 fair, have at least 10 speaking or presentation events outside of fair week and attend a minimum of 10 community events, will be competing in the state Fairest of the Fair Competition in January of 2015.

Other competitors in the Fairest of the Fair competition included Kayla Decker, 19 of Sharon, Brandy Sheppard, 19 of Genoa City, Jillian Cline, 19 of Lake Geneva, Megan Rasmussen, 19 of Lake Geneva, Shelby Peteler, 20 of Lake Geneva, and Emily Watson, 21 of Elkhorn, who was named Fair Royalty for next year’s fair.

Watson served as the State Vice President of FFA up until June of this year, working with 10 other state officers, traveling 285 days out of the year facilitating leadership workshops, teaching classes, and meeting with business and industry leaders.

The 2014 Fairest is crowned.
