Tyler Lamb, 26, has been named editor of the Elkhorn Independent.
Lamb, who recently served as managing editor of The Courier, a weekly newspaper in Waterloo, is a 2010 communications graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with print media major and multimedia minor.
He began his career as a reporter and assistant editor at The Courier before becoming a regional reporter for the Sun Prairie Star, a sister publication.
Lamb returned to The Courier as managing editor in 2011 and guided the newspaper to a second-place award for most improved newspaper as bestowed by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association at its 2013 convention.
Lamb, who began working for Southern Lakes Newspapers – the parent company of the Elkhorn Independent – in June, said he is excited to begin a new chapter in his career.
“I will strive to continue to provide the area with the excellent coverage that the Elkhorn Independent has been known for, while also improving in some facets of how we present readers the news both in print and online,” Lamb said. “The citizens of Elkhorn and surrounding communities have an advocate in me. We’ll celebrate our citizens’ success but also work hard to identify any failures in our communities.”
As part of his duties, Lamb also oversees the editorial content of the Walworth Times and Sharon Reporter.
Ed Nadolski, editor in chief for Southern Lakes Newspapers, said Lamb has the skill and experience to give readers a strong community newspaper.
“I’m impressed not only with this ability to report and write, but also with his willingness to fully immerse himself in the communities he serves,” Nadolski said.
