A Darien Elementary School second-grader was picked up by a passing motorist and taken home when he began a 12-mile trek home after not being allowed on the school bus Thursday.
Jeremy Talaczynski, 7, was suspended from riding the bus from Oct. 31 through Friday but his parents were never notified, said the boy’s mom, Staci Talaczynski.
Staci Talaczynski said Jeremy Talacynski was written up twice – once for climbing over a seat and once for sitting on the floor. Talaczynski said she was notified of the first incident, but not the second, and was never notified he was suspended.
Staci Talaczynski said her son got on the bus the morning of Oct. 31 with no mention of the suspension when another driver, who doesn’t drive the afternoon route, was driving. When he got on the bus after school that day, the regular driver reminded him he was suspended and said he would be allowed on the bus that day, but not the following day.
When Jeremy Talaczynski tried to get on the bus Thursday after school, he was denied, Staci Talaczynski said. She said the boy began walking the 12 miles home to Delavan.
