Alvin D. Rhode, 89 of Elkhorn, died at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. He was the son of the late Frank and Mayme Rohde.
He enjoyed attending ethnic festivals, especially those of Native American communities. He was a very proud Veteran of the Army and was the recipient of many service awards and medals, including a Purple Heart. He was also very active with the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by three nieces, one nephew, and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is further preceded in death by his lifelong partner, Vera Gutzmer; sister, Bernice Rohde; brothers, Frank (Barbara) Rohde, Jr., and Conrad (Betty) Rohde.
A memorial service was be held at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory of Elkhorn, at 2 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2014. Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m.
