Top spot!

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk women’s basketball team took sole position of first place in the WIAC conference with a win over Oshkosh Jan. 8. Mary Merg, who led all players with 20 points on the day, fights her way through traffic. Merg led all players in the game with 20 points. Oshkosh’s 3-point shooting (8-15) kept the game close throughout while Whitewater only made one 3-pointer in spite of attempting seven. On Jan. 11 the Warhawks won again, defeating Eau Claire 64-57, to bring their first place conference record to 5-0 with an overall record of 11-3. (Bob Mischka photo)
