CAROLINE E. SLATER

DE 9'12'13 obit Slater PICCaroline E. Slater; 83, of Elkhorn, died at home Sept. 7, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born May 11, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Walter and Rebecca (Gallagher) Westphal.

Over the years she worked as secretary for Allis Chalmers Company in West Allis. She drove a bus for the East Troy School District for more than 10 years.

She was a member of Community Church of Elkhorn and very involved in the church and with its library. She was an avid reader, enjoyed long walks, hiking in the woods and baking. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Becky (Dean) Shultis Plainfield, Heidi (Ken) Andrus, Delavan, and Shari (Olaf) Jentzsch, Waterford; son, John (Kathleen) Brinkman, Janesville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by a brother, Wally and sister, Betty.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Community Church of Elkhorn, 4654 Briggs Road, with the Rev. Robert Peiffer officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens, 3045 Highway 36, Lake Geneva.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.
