Take a ‘Halloween Brew Walk’ Saturday

The City of Delavan will get a little spooky Saturday, as the Delavan Historic Foundation Halloween Brew Walk takes place.

For a cost of between $15 and $60, participants get a swag bag and the chance to stroll and try 14 different tasting locations.

With the provided tasting glass, participants get a chance to sip, stroll and shop in downtown Delavan. Halloween costumes are encouraged, though not required. A costume contest will take place.

While the event will run at the same time as Elkhorn’s Oktoberfest, the scheduling was not intentional.

“A lot of things got bumped up this year,” said Heather Hazlett, who is helping organize the event. “The Brew Walk is meant to compliment the Wine Walks. Bring people into our community.”

The funds raised from the event will go toward the Walldog Murals, which decorate the downtown Delavan area.

“We’re actually hoping to add another one next year,” Hazlett said.

Tickets are $35 for the regular brew walk, $60 for the VIP guest ticket and $15 for the designated driver ticket.

The regular ticket gets the participant a keepsake bag with tasting glass, the tasting passport for all stops and a map of the various locations.

The VIP ticket earns an extra tasting, a special VIP bag, a commemorative etched tasting Pilsner and more. The designated driver ticket gets everything a regular ticket gets, except the beer.

Check in for regulars and designated drivers is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Delavan City Hall, while VIP check in starts at 2 p.m. at the American Legion.

Stops include the American Legion, Bradley’s Unique Home Décor, Boxed and Burlap, Kristin Hardwick LLC, Peachy Clean, Utigers, Remember When, Beall Jewelers, La Costera 4J Liquors, Pete’s Parkside Pub, LSJ Music, Curate Design Group and the Delavan-Delavan Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Dousman is also setting up a BooBus stop, with a haunted house stop for the designated driver ticket holders.

Hazlett stressed the large variety of beers available on this year’s walk.

“We’re definitely trying to push that we have no IPAs this year,” Hazlett said. “Everyone will be trying something new.”

One more Wine Walk – the Holiday Wine Walk – will take place in November. Tickets are on sale at www.delavanwinewalk.com.
