The new year will bring a new look for the entrance of East Troy’s Village Hall, as well as a long-awaited new HVAC system.
The Village Board on Dec. 4 approved a bid from Lake Geneva’s Glen Fern Construction for the project. Village Administrator Eileen Suhm said work is anticipated to start in January.
The cost, which is budgeted to come from the village’s capital reserves, is approximately $615,500 with an additional $30,000 budgeted for contingencies, $56,000 for soft costs like permits and architecture/engineering fees and $30,000 for signage and furniture. The bid includes adding automatic accessible doors to the front entrance.
The village is also looking into using an additional $17,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to add automatic accessible entrance doors to the village’s court and police entrances.
Past move/HVAC needs
In 2009 the village hall moved from its old location on the square at 2106 Church St., where the East Troy Historical Society is now located, to its new home at 2015 Energy Drive. At the time when the village purchased the Energy Drive facility, the HVAC system was not addressed, Suhm said.
“It’s something the board knew we needed to address,” Suhm said. “It’s time.”
There have been humidity issues in the summer, she said. Also, units have broken down and parts are harder to find.
HVAC for the whole building is going to be redone, Suhm said. The project cost includes replacing units as well as ductwork.
