A warrant was issued Oct. 26 for the arrest of an East Troy man who allegedly impregnated a woman with developmental disabilities in 2020.
Jaycob M. Demara, 19, was charged Oct. 25 in Walworth County Circuit Court with first-degree sexual assault.
According to the criminal complaint, the adoptive mother of a then-31-year-old woman with developmental disabilities reported Aug. 20, 2020, that the woman was five months pregnant. The mother said she noticed the woman’s belly was pronounced after picking her up from a weeklong camp at Inspiration Ministries and administered a pregnancy test, according to the complaint. After the test showed positive, the woman told her mother that “Jaykob” had put his privates in her privates, the complaint states.
The woman said she was afraid Demara would hurt her more if she told anyone what happened, according to the complaint. She said Demara beat her until her older brother came and pulled Demara off of her, the complaint states. Demara, who was 17 years old at the time, then went to live with a different adult but would still spend the day at the mother’s house when the woman was at work, according to the complaint.
Demara made multiple contradictory statements about the allegations that he beat the woman on March 11, 2020, and denied touching or sexually assaulting her on July 4, 2020, according to the complaint.
The woman said on July 4, 2020, she went to the barn to escape the noise of the fireworks, and Demara came into the barn and kept trying to pull her down, according to the complaint. She said she held onto a pole to prevent him from pulling her down, but her arm was weak from being broken when Demara beat her in March 2020, and she was unable to hold on, the complaint states. After pulling her down, Demara had sexual intercourse with her, and the woman did not tell anyone, according to the complaint.
The woman gave birth to a baby on March 18, 2021, and DNA tests confirmed Demara is the father, the complaint states.
