Mary Jean Schomburg, 86, of Elkhorn and formerly of Hilbert, passed away at home on Sept. 5, 2022.
Mary is the daughter of the late Carl and Ida (Diener) Boesch. She was born on Dec. 20, 1935, in Rantoul.
She was united in marriage to William Schomburg in Hilbert, on June 20, 1956, who preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2020.
Mary loved going on hikes to see waterfalls, taking walks, living in Hawaii, listening to polka music and dancing, and going out to eat. Some of her favorite meals included fish fry with a whiskey old fashioned, and pizza with a cold beer. Mary was known for being a very loving and devoted wife and mother. She was also a financial guru who enjoyed investing money in the stock market and other investment instruments.
But of all things she loved the most, her family was number one. Having a great sense of fashion, she loved to help her kids get dressed and ready for church, school dances, sporting events, and countless extra-curricular activities. She had much love to give and will be remembered and missed dearly by her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her children, Karl Schomburg, Lisa (Dan) Reshkus, Lori (Bill Caldwell) Jarzynski and Kristy (Scott) Kleist; her sister-in-law, Beverly Boesch; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Jacob Stey, Gavin, Anja, Garrick and Caleb Reshkus and Jake Jarzynski; her great-granchildren, Maxwell Sandoval, Alexis Thomazin, Isabella Gast, Burkleigh Gast, and McKenna, Liam and Vittoria Reshkus.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ida Boesch and her brothers, Carl and Art Boesch.
A visitation took place on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church 415 Devendorf St. Elkhorn. Online condolences at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com. Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Homes of Elkhorn is assisting the family.
