The Finance Committee of the Walworth County Board of Supervisors approved a pair of resolutions April 28, one to sell surplus public works equipment and another to American Rescue Plan Act funding.
The county has a pair of single-axel Mack trucks with attachments it purchased in 2015, and a Mack tandom truck purchased in 2007.
The two, single-axel trucks have a fair-market value of $82,000 each, while the tandem truck has a fair-market value of $30,000.
All three will offered to municipalities for the market value. If not sold there, they would be sold at auction.
Because the items are worth more than $20,000 apiece, the declaration needed to be approved by the committee and then the county board.
The county is also working to get rid of a generator at the county jail.
For the ARPA money, the Health and Human Services department asked to apply for grant money to purchase equipment to improve lobby services and staffing in distributing Food Share options.
The county has also finished an update on lost revenue from 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. That calculation allows the county to claim costs and reimbursements through the ARPA plan.
The county has its lost revenue calculation at $5.92 million for 2020 and $5.89 million for 2021 for a total allowable expenditure limit of $11.81 million.
The calculation will again be completed this time next year.
In other business, the Finance Committee:
• Approved changing to the Hausman Group for employee benefits consulting and Magellan Health for prescription drug benefits.
• Approved changes to the 2022 budgets were made as well. Those included $61,000 for Lakeland School the replacement of smart boards, paid for by using existing fund balance; HHS consumer care costs for a five-month private care service; the investment of $82,000 for more brine production and equipment for county roads; and the purchase of a radio system for Alpine Valley for the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department, at a cost of $27,000.
• Elected Sheila Reiff as chairperson and Joseph Schaefer as vice-chairperson.
