A Lake Geneva man was killed Tuesday when the truck he was driving collided with a semi on Highway 11 in the Town of Darien.
Carlos R Cantu, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened about 50 feet east of Old Highway 89 at about 11:20 a.m.
The Chevy S-10 pickup truck Cantu was driving east on Highway 11 lost control on the snow-covered road and slid into the westbound lane, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department. A semi-truck milk hauler struck the S-10 broadside on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The driver of the milk hauler, Michael P. Forstrom, 31, of Brooklyn, was not injured.
Cantu was the sole occupant of the S-10 and was killed upon impact.
Highway 11 was closed from Klug Road to the intersection of highways 11, 14 and 89 for about four hours while the crash was investigated and the vehicles were removed from the roadway. No citations or charges are anticipated.
