Lt. Scot Stefanczyk, a 32-year veteran of the Town of Delavan Police Department, retired earlier this week.
He was hired in August of 1988 as a part-time officer after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, according to a press release from the department.
In November of 1989, Stefanczyk was promoted to full-time and worked as a road officer for several years. During that time, he attended numerous schools on investigations and in October of 1993, Stefanczyk was promoted to detective.
In that role, he served on the Multi Jurisdiction Sensitive Crimes Task Force and handled all investigations for the Town of Delavan Police Department. In April of 2008 he was promoted to lieutenant and served as second in command of the department until his retirement on Sunday.
Stefanczyk has also served on numerous committees and task force agencies within the town and county during his years of service.
“(He) served with professionalism and diligence for his entire career and his knowledge and ability will be missed,” said Town of Delavan Police Chief Ray Clark Jr. “The Town of Delavan congratulates Lt. Stefanczyk on his retirement and thanks him for his dedication and service to this community.”
