Bernard A. Billiat, 81, of East Troy, passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2021. He was born to Alfred and Mildred Billiat. Alfred died soon after his birth, so he was raised by a special stepfather, Rex McCracken.
He graduated from East Troy High School.
Bernard was a longtime East Troy resident. He married his wife Joyce in 1977 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Bernard loved car racing. He watched it every chance he got. He was a driver of sprint cars for many years.
He was a talented artist; he loved animals particularly horses, country music, western movies, cigars and the sports channel. He had a great sense of humor.
Bernard is survived by his wife Joyce, his children Kim (Tom), Wes (Patti), MariKay, Karen (Sherrie), Kathi (Denis), Lynne (Matthew) and Mark (Sharon); grandchildren, Kyle, Taryn, Anna (Rico), Adam, Ava, Alex and Weston; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Ethan; brother, Bob Billiat; niece, Niki (Bernie) Neu; other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday May 29, at Legacy Funeral Services, 2974 Main St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Bernard Billiat was a member of the Class of 1958, not 1957, at East Troy High School – he was a classmate and came to all our Class or 1958 reunions.
