Sunny skies and favorable weather brought a pleasant experience for many families participating in the annual Duck Pond Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Big Foot Recreation District.
The Big Foot Recreation District, which unveiled a new Easter Bunny in 2021, held the event on Saturday, April 3 and included collaboration among many other groups.
Children of all age groups hunted down more than 3,000 plastic eggs stuffed with wrapped candy with help from Big Foot Union High School students.
The Fontana Public Works Department, meanwhile, helped with the annual event by putting up sections with flags dividing areas by age and defrayed some costs.
“This year, there was a new Easter Bunny, who arrived on a Fontana Fire Truck, just prior to the egg hunts and stayed for photos afterwards,” organizers said.
While children took home sweet treats, they also had an opportunity to use a playground, which kept them amused before and after the egg hunt.
The annual event drew in crowds from Elkhorn, among other surrounding areas, as well locally communities such as Fontana, Walworth and Sharon.
Parents were asked to return the empty eggs before leaving the Duck Pond grounds.
