The presentation focuses on ‘life in a quarantine’

Many people have likely been wondering how others have been handling their time in quarantine. An upcoming production of “10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine,” will offer a variety of ideas, in a message by local youth.
The first-ever virtual play for Whitewater Unified School District theatre kids is filled with handy solutions for surviving the quarantine – from putting on a musical with a dog, to becoming an announcer for a made-up sport, to falling in love with an inanimate object.
Maybe those who watch take in the presentation will be inspired to take up origami and squirrel observation, but even if it doesn’t lead to such extremes, it aims to bring a laugh to anyone who finds themselves unexpectedly indoors for extended periods of time.
The play is written by Don Zolidis and geared toward an online performance.
The Whitewater Middle School Theater, in collaboration with the Whitewater High School Players, will be presenting “10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine” on Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19 at 7 p.m.
The show will be presented on Zoom, an online teleconferencing platform, and will be free to all viewers. The link to view the performances will be posted on the middle school website, at middleschool.wwusd.org, at 6:55 p.m. both evenings so people can join in before it begins.
The show is being directed by Liz Elliott and Alyssa Orlowski, who have teamed up for five Whitewater Middle School theater productions.
“The 2020-2021 school year has included so many unknowns. It was important to figure out a way to make theatre still ‘happen’ with our students,” Orlowski said.
“Unbelievably resilient, our young actors continue to step up and make the show great! They’ve had so much fun bringing these relatable characters to life via Zoom,” she added.
Cast members for “10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine” include London Altreuter, Lucy Davis, Adalynn Frye, Danny Fuller, Miles Hutchison, Maggie Jay, Ben McCulloch, Hailey Peterson, Aldo Rodriguez, Madison Strickler, Anderson Waelchli, Carter Waelchli and Ella Willman.
