Six Delavan-Darien High School students have been selected as the Delavan Rotary Club students for the first quarter of the 2019-20 school year. Those students are: Jarod Comas, son of Leigh and Augie Comas; Ryan Hoey, son of Tracy and Mike Hoey; Garbriela Montelongo, daughter of Linda Cortz and Israel Montelongo; Andrew O’Niel, son of Sarah and Chris O’Niel; Jacob Prado, son of Laura and Sergio Prado; and Kailea Timmerman, daughter of Terri and Kurt Timmerman.
Jarod Comas participates in football, basketball, golf, and the Southern Lakes Conference Academic Bowl. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
He volunteers with the food pantry, donation collection for the Comet Care Center, with the DDABC (Delavan-Darien Athletic Booster Club) fair booth, library book sales, and sport camps for children.
After high school Jarod plans to attend either the Colorado School of Mines or the Milwaukee School of Engineering to pursue a degree in mining engineering or another field of engineering.
Ryan Hoey participates in football, basketball, baseball, student council, Comet Mentors, and ski/snowboard club. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
He volunteers with the food pantry, the DDABC (Delavan-Darien Athletic Booster Club) fair booth, library book sales, and sport camps for children.
After high school Ryan plans to attend college in Wisconsin majoring in health sciences or engineering.
Gabriela Montelongo participates in tennis, string choir, orchestra, and the Southern Lakes Conference Academic Bowl. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
She volunteers with her church helping with several different activities, she is a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, and helps with after school activities at Turtle Creek School.
After high school Gabriela plans to study pediatric nursing and possibly further her career in the medical field.
Andrew O’Niel participates in marching and jazz band, orchestra, piano, choir, musicals, golf, tennis, and track. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
He volunteers with his church playing piano and helping with youth group. Andrew also works the Delavan Christian School Apple Pie sale, and plays piano for nursing homes.
After high school Andrew plans to pursue a degree in the liberal arts or political science.
Jacob Prado participates in the school newspaper, forensics, Comet Mentors, student council, swim, golf, and the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) He is a member of the National Honor Society.
He volunteers with the DAYS (Delavan Area Youth Service) Foundation, at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf library, and at SMILES (Special Methods in Learning Equine Skills). Jacob also works the Delavan Christian School Apple Pie sale, and plays piano for nursing homes.
After high school Jacob plans to pursue a career in business administration and eventually attend law school.
Kailea Timmerman participates in soccer, basketball, volleyball, yearbook club, and student council. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
She volunteers at the Catholic Heart work camp, various sport camps, with the DAYS (Delavan Area Youth Service) Foundation, and the Delavan recreational department.
After high school Kailea plans to attend college, but is undecided which college she will attend.
The students were escorted by a school administrator to the Nov. 13 Rotary Club luncheon at the Oficina de Multi-Servicios Delavan, LLC.
The school district and Rotary offers congratulations to Jarod, Ryan, Gabriele, Andrew, Jacob, and Kailea on receiving this prestigious award.
