Visitors Bureau invites residents to its new location

The Walworth County Visitors Bureau will host the grand opening of the Walworth County Travel Information Center from Jan. 28-Feb. 1 at its new location at Lake Lawn Airport, 2375 E. Geneva St. (Highway 50) in Delavan.

After more than 30 years, the Visitors Bureau has left its location at the Uncle Hunk’s Junk Building, 203 E. Walworth St., in Elkhorn, where it has shared space with the Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce for the past five years.

With its lease expiring in Elkhorn at the end of January, the Visitors Bureau’s Executive Director Kathleen Seeberg said the move had been in the works for about a year. The organization formed a committee composed of people from different communities, including Elkhorn, Delavan and Lake Geneva, who were charged with visiting various spaces that the Visitors Bureau might eventually occupy.

Seeberg said one of the goals was to be close to one of the major highways.

“We are very pleased with our new location,” she said. “Being conveniently located off Interstate 43 and Highway 50 has increased our visibility to new visitors to the county, as well as, local businesses. I’m anticipating a great turnout for the grand opening and showing the local community some of the hidden gems so close to home.”

The Visitors Bureau will focus on different portions of Walworth County each day of the weeklong grand opening celebration from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The schedule includes:

Ÿ Monday, Jan. 28, Lake Geneva, Genoa City, Burlington

Ÿ Tuesday, Jan. 29, Sharon, Walworth, Fontana, Williams Bay

Ÿ Wednesday, Jan. 30, East Troy, Elkhorn

Ÿ Thursday, Jan. 31, Whitewater, Palmyra, Eagle

Ÿ Friday, Feb. 1, Delavan, Darien

The first 50 visitors each day will receive welcome bags full of items from around the county.

Visitors will also get a chance to win a tablet, flat screen TV, gift baskets, gift certificates and more.
