A 56-year-old Delavan woman was killed in a crash on Highway 14 late Wednesday afternoon, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
The report of the two-vehicle crash in front of W9361 highways 11/14 in the Town of Darien was received at approximately 4:14 p.m. on Sept. 18, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Upon arrival, deputies and area emergency personnel reportedly found two vehicles in the ditch on the south side of the road severely damaged, the release states.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Ford Freestyle SUV was westbound on highways 11/14 when it made a left-hand turn into the path of a 2018 Dodge Ram truck, which was eastbound, the release states. The Dodge struck the Ford in the passenger side, causing severe damage. The Ford was attempting to pull into the driveway at that location, according to the release.
The driver of the Ford was identified as Tina Shafer, 56, of Delavan. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office, the release states.
The driver of the Dodge was identified as Cole Bischke, 19, of Elkhorn. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries, the severity of which is unknown, according to the press release.
The crash remains under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit.
