Phyllis Walker Lisson, 84, of Cary, N.C., passed away at home on July 8, 2019, with her family at her side.
She was born May 3, 1935, in Delavan, to the late William C. Walker and Edith Korth Walker. Mrs. Lisson graduated from Delavan High School in 1953 where she was elected Homecoming Queen her senior year. She received a B.A. in Speech from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1957 where she was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
She moved to Los Angeles in 1957 and began teaching English at Bell High School. She married Russell Mac Lisson on Aug. 28, 1959, in Los Angeles. They relocated back to Mr. Lisson’s hometown of Rochester, N.Y. in 1966 where they lived together until relocating to Cary, N.C. in 2018.
Mrs. Lisson was an active volunteer throughout her years in Rochester. She was a trustee at her son’s alma mater, The Allendale Columbia School, in addition to devoting much of her time to the Asbury First United Methodist Church, and the Rochester Philharmonic League. Phyllis was immensely proud of her Mid-western roots, her family, and her beloved Wisconsin Badgers. She leaves nothing behind but beautiful memories.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Russell Mac Lisson of Cary, N.C.; her son, Dr. Scott Walker Lisson of Cary, N.C.; her daughter-in-law, Dr. Gail Lesley Lisson of Cary, N.C.; her brother, Mr. Clifford Walker of Janesville; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Arlette Walker of Janesville; her granddaughter, Paige August Lisson of Cary, N.C., and her grandson, Jonas William Lisson of Cary, N.C.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at Rock Lake Cemetery, Lake Mills.
